Mosswbody vs protection
That's quite simple question, just planning major battle and have 2 options for my N casters - mossbody and protection. Both has not much of description to understand the proper niche for each...
SOUNDS like mossbody can be used if you have some fat guys (with big size and HP), who are going to hold a swarm and need good protection, and if the explode they make more hard to attackers then defenfers. putting mossbody on a squad of mermans,on the othe side , can be suicidal. And better to use protection spell. Do I understand properly?
Also in http://dom3.servegame.com/wiki/Mossbody it's said that it's a " Units in 1 square get 75% chance of +10-20 protection. If unit takes damage the moss explodes, doing range 4 AoE 1AN damage. "
what means AN? Armor negating or Armor negates?Does MR works agains this explosion? And what means range 4 AoE 1... I can understand AOE 4, or Range 1, but not Range 1 AoE 4 when i't a non-managed explosion, not a blasting action.
And will mossbody increase protection which is already high?

Armour negating. There is nothing in dominions that uses the term "Armour negates", so that's not the right choice.

It's a poison cloud, and it doesn't say MR negates, so MR therefore doesn't negate it.

It says "range 4 AOE 1AN damage". From using the spell (Download the debug mod and test it in a couple of minutes), it creates an poison cloud with about 4 squares of AOE.

Of course, but it's mostly useful to get the poison cloud.

Re: Mosswbody vs protection
yes, the protection spell basically gives AoE barskin. mossbody is very limited as far as its protection goes, as its temporary, but it's useful as a poison spreader(if you use poison immune troops that is).

Re: Mosswbody vs protection
And what exactly protection does? increases protection by some number regardless of everything? It's quite clear what wooden warrior does..but what does protection is not in wiki and not in description.
And does it commulative with legions of steel?

Re: Mosswbody vs protection
Barkskin, wooden warriors, protection, mass protection, and the barkskin amulet all apply the same effect, which gives a unit 25% fire vulnerability and a natural protection of 10. I'm unsure how this interacts with armour. Legions of steel only works on troops that are wearing armour, and I'm also not sure how it interacts with natural protection.

Re: Mosswbody vs protection
there are two types of protection: natural protection and manufactured protection. These add non-linearly, such that as total protection increases, the impact of raising the lesser contributor is decreased. At low protection totals (<15) it should look pretty linear.
Barkskin similarly adds an amount to natural protection based on existing natural protection. This is +10 at low levels of natural protection, and decreases as natural protection increases.

Re: Mosswbody vs protection
Let me speak up for moss body.... its a little niche.. but I love it.
have 4 casters, for example. one casts swarm, the other three cast moss body.
Now those dragonflies have just become bloody guided missiles if your opponent does not have regen or poison immunity.
Or raise dead + moss body..
