Re: The Ascension Wars: MA,12 players, no mods, newb friendly. [Year 2, 11/12 remaini
It doesn't seem like Ashod isn't doing too well. We don't mind the fall of Ashod, but we fear the rise of Mictan and C'tis more.

As someone has already observed, I don't have great scales, which means having a few extra territories is less of an issue.
The stats that matter most are income, gem income and research.
Ashdod has great scales by the way, but not enough dominion on his pretender to spread them, which makes them kind of wasted. My main reason for attacking him was that his diplomacy was WAY too aggressive.

I look forward to some analysis based on what I wrote after the game in regards to what it was that made me seem WAY too aggressive, since I find myself mildly confused by that statement each time it is made. Though I do find tone on the internet a troublesome thing sometimes.
Re Scales/Dominion: Yeah, that was a mistake; in my single player games I always had plenty of time to build lots of temples to spread dominion, but I'm starting to realize what a different beast multi-player is.
I think my scales actually add up to +4 (160 pts); I'm not sure if that's considered "great scales" or not. How much is considered normal for dominion/scales in a multiplayer game (once accounting for variety among nations?)

The thing is that C'tis have a poisonous domain. If I see it coming at me, it will make me cranky.

You know, when I talk about C'tis getting powerful, I should say Mictlan instead. Those are the guys creeping up on me. Although C'tis domain is nasty.

haha well specifically the first communication you sent me said you were pretty sure you could stomp me and you started demanding certain provinces near me as payment in order for you to not stomp me.
People might not take to kindly to that kind of talk. You might try a more diplomatic approach if you're actually interested in a temporary peace, or just attack if you really think you can win.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting my bluff to get called.

It would have been different if it were mid-late game and I didn't know the composition of your forces or where they might be on the map. As it is in the early game I knew you had a small army because you simply couldn't have produced a large one at that point. And as soon as I came into contact I sent my scouts your way, plus my dominion spread, I had a pretty good idea that you COULDN'T have taken me at any point, but I didn't want a war in the first four turns. It would have been suicidal for the both of us.
Also, at the point I started attacking you my army was roughly three times larger than yours (units multiplied by unit size) so I knew that I had significantly more units than you considering you mostly have giants. If the score graphs weren't on it might have been harder to call your bluff.

Miclan got an interesting strategy. Just got a nastly battle report from my spies. Anyone got a problem with me posting the battle/bless ?

The game is waiting for the turn file from man, even though man is out ?
