Showdown: America Series
Hello again lads!
In my free time during last months I began another project you may, or also may not enjoy. We will see!
Project is called Showdown: America and touches a fictional continental war between various South American states. Let me now paste the storyline and add general features to the bottom:
STORYLINE:
Quote:
At the edge of first decade of XXI century, crisis strikes the world hard and reaches South America.
American nations hold tight to survive economic shake and decrease possible damage. But soon it emerges to be impossible: financial losses are calculated for billions, mass unemployment rises, strikes happen in cities, one government falls after another.
Society, not able to see rational solution turns towards more radical factions. New authorities seek answer for all the issues and soon it is found a military, useless at a time of peace and MERCOSUR cooperation, is now a decent argument to save what is left of continent's productivity.
A future of America is to be played by key powers. But no one can be saved and no one will be spared. There is no good and bad, there is only necessity. Nations must brace for war...
|
OK, so that's it, now the features:
Quote:
- 4 Scenarios in first release
- Including various South American states battling each other. Decided to focus on these nations as there are merely any scenarios with them. Let every nation have a scenario in this game!
- Realistic approach to these "what-if" situations. This means:
* Strategic/Tactical situation based on probability
* Maps more or less recreated out of Google Earth images
* Regimental or Brigade-sized combat: Units recreated with NATO charts or globally available ORBATs. Its not a 100% sure, but I tried to stick to my own military knowledge and some simple rules
* Real names where possible
- Varying difficulty, some scenarios quite easy, some barely winnable. Depends on a state and situation of a formation
- More scenarios to come
- Maps available in different download
- Maps only 160x200 of size
|
So, have fun with it, play it, give me some feedback also! I will be slowly working on new scenarios and add them here in this topic.

Re: Showdown: America Series
Been playing the Argentina beach landing scenario and I'm on turn 16. Not bad. There's a great number of units and a huge map size but the enemy is getting massacred sitting in trucks. Their foot mobiles are starting to become a problem though in the east and southeast. I haven't gone for the golf course yet because those AT guns just seem like too much of a hastle. Those Energa grenades from the scouts are deadly, just tossing a grenade from two hexes seems to kill anything. Thanks for the scenario, I'll let you know when I finish.

Re: Showdown: America Series
It was a fairly tough scenario for me, at least. The APCs really cost me, would have preferred M-113s but it was nice to try out the Argentinian equipment.

Re: Showdown: America Series
Thanks for feedback, there will be more to come, however creating one takes quite much of time. Soon, a Bolivian army will betray Paraguayans from the other side!
Now Oche, make sure you have proper opponent, as these scenarios are not intended to be human vs. human and one side is always in much worse situation.

Re: Showdown: America Series
New scenario from the series is ready for release.
This time Bolivian mountain infantry rushes through Paraguayan border in backstabbing operation. But Paraguayans expected that.
More info in scenario description.
