Welcome. I would start with the tutorial, the first scenario with particular attention to the game manual. Moreover, I urge you to get a
copy of the pdf version of the game guide,so that you can keep a handy reference as you play.
As to"beginner-friendly" scenarios I am not aware of a scenario ranking by popularity or degree of difficulty, but that would be interesting to post a survey.
If you find someone to play with PBEM (play-by-email), that would be most beneficial.
