That only works if the idiots that made the tank failed to include hatch locks inside the tank and/or the idiots inside fail to use them.
And it assumes there's no infantry or another tank nearby to "hose you off" (i.e. shoot the fools climbing on top your tank).
Yeah, it can work. But trying it wouldn't be in my first ten choices.
