Re: Alpha Co BLT 1/6 22 MEU OEF-A Update
Update: Although shuiir has provided a fire team based platoon (thanks suhiir), I have decided to build the scenario around the USMC Rifle Squad instead of fire team platoons. In gameplay testing the fire team platoons became a lot of non essential management while highly susceptible to Taliban fire from squads twice the number of the fire teams. However, I have a follow-up scenario in mind for a fire team based squad. The following is a listing of the friendly forces:
HQ Alpha Co 1/6
FO
Engr Sqd x3
Stinger MPADS x2
60mm Mortar x3
HMG x2
Hvy Sniper x1
40mm MK.19B AGL x2
HQ Platoon x3
Sniper
Sniper
Javelin
Rifle Sqd
SMAW
M240 MMG
Rifle Sqd
SMAW
M240 MMG
UH-1Y Lt Obs Helo
AH-1W Super Cobra x2
MH-47E Chinnok 4x2
AV-8B Harrier x2
USAF A-10 Warthog x3
CH-53 Super Stallion x2
UAV Shadow
MQ-9 Reaper
Ammo LAV-L x2
155MM LW FH+ Sec off map
Taliban Forces:
Based upon the Mujahedeen formation with four or five squads per platoon. I am tweaking the Jihadist group to model a contingent of Chechen fighters, aka “the Martyrs," who compelled the most concern in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Fun scenario. I lost 2 fire teams and a SMAW team. I did not expect ATGMs so my advance was very cautious.
Got a DV in the end

Great! You played suhiir's suggestion for the battle. I have incorporated her assault plan from the east. The battle has now undergone over two months of work. Thanks for playing.

Just as an observation, the booby traps were not very effective. Almost always I would hit one and suffer no casualties.
The IEDs were much more effective. I would change the booby traps to these or simply to mines for more of a challenge.
Thanks for continuing to make fun new scenarios.

Great obs. Yeah. I've had serious second thoughts about demolitions. Check this out thread out: http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showp...56&postcount=1.
You're right RetLT.

Booby traps were implemented WinSPMBT long ago, they represent the types used by the VC during Vietnam so aren't overly lethal, as they were intended to cause injuries more then kill.
IED's are a recent addition and tend to represent big 2000#/truck bomb type stuff, I've seen them destroy a tank 3 hexes (150m) from the explosion location.
