Generate Campaign slightly strange
So I did a May 1940-45, 20 game German campaign and I was expecting to fight the French, British and then USA.
My first battle was in France as expected but against an Indian unit. My second battle shows August 1940 against the USA.
Kind of strange. I don't think I have seen a long campaign do that.

Re: Generate Campaign slightly strange
Well there were some Indian mule companies in the BEF....
No - the Indians should not show in 40, neither should the USA!
To be investigated. That is really strange (and the campaign code has not been changed in several years).
is this the Long campaign, or a generated campaign (I am presuming the long campaign).

Did you set up a generated campaign using those 3 opponents? (FR, UK, USA)
- If so then much strangeness will occur since the USA does not enter the war till Pearl Harbour (12/41), and does not fight Germany till Operation Torch (11/42).
All selected opponents in a generated campaign must be able to operate from day 1 -> day end or weirdness may well occur.

Re: Generate Campaign slightly strange
Yes it was a generated campaign, May 40 - 45, 20 CG selected, with opponents France, UK and USA.
Sending files:
060 - 2nd Campaign game setup (at start vs. USA Aug 40)
061 - First saved game from first scenario (vs. Indian unit, not a mule unit, lol)
063 - Last turn (end of scenario) from vs. Indian unit.
Hope this helps?

Re: Generate Campaign slightly strange
You set up a campaign with opponents that weren't historically active for date. therefore anything can happen.
It's not something tested for, and of no use for debugging.
If you want to set up generated campaigns, ensure the opponents are in date for that historic time frame (The USA was not, so the date checking that automatically adjusts the campaign clock for the allies in "gap periods" wont work as the USA is not an Allied force then).

Re: Generate Campaign slightly strange
Thanks my bad. Basically I was thinking the generated campaign would figure that out. I am pretty certain the long campaign games do this already (at least in my 15 plus years of playing spww2 campaign games).

Re: Generate Campaign slightly strange
The long campaign chooses the opponent for you depending on theatre and year.
The generated campaign, you select (up to) 3 opponents. it is up to you to choose these and ensure they are in synch for the entire time frame. The generated campaign is really only of use for a single theatre and period. The only exception is in MBT, where if you choose Communist China in the period before the Yalu river, and have North Korea in the mix, then any early "Chicom" picks will morph to Norks. That allows a full USA/Allies Korean War LC.
So e3nsure the opponents match in date (e.g. One Spain vs the other, for a Spanish Civil War generated LC, no Germans or Italians, unless you choose the exact era those foreign expeditionary forces were in theatre).
