Default How to set AFV facing to avoid flank shots.

I realized the need for me to be able to set my AFV facing in one direction in order to avoid the nasty surprise of having them show a flank in response to fire from the Computer enemy.

In response to Computer fire during the Computer turn, my tank turned its flank towards a known enemy AT gun and was destroyed when that AT gun fired.

Is there some way for us to SET the covered arc of our AFVs so that they don't do this? We don't want our tanks to turn their chassis to the side to respond to rifle fire when that known AT gun to the front is waiting for that flank shot. Thanks.

I didn't think tanks turned to face rifle fire - anti-tank fire yes.

and No, whilst you can set facing they will turn to face incoming rounds.

It may have been a SP gun as in no turret so it needs to turn to fire.

Thanks for the help.

This particular example involved a turreted AFV.

I suppose that both kinds of AFVs will turn the chassis to face bazooka and rifle grenade fire?

Is there any way to prevent this?

No - vehicles will auto turn to face the current threat based on internal code.

Thanks, Mobhack.

Can you provide any suggestions for minimizing the tendency to do this to their own detriment?

No - it is up to the individual element to do its own reaction, not the player.

I understand. The player does not have complete control over all aspects of the game, just like in real war. Thanks.

Sometimes the entire chassis rotates and sometimes just the turret. I use the trick of shooting rifles at a tank to make it turn around and show its weak side to a cannon or ATGM weapon, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
