Foreign Wars of Cuba

October 1963 - February 1964: War of the Sands (Guerre des Sables)

1973 - 1974 (Yom Kippur War of Attrition in Syria)
During the Yom Kippur War, the Syrian Arab Republic requested military aid from Cuba and the Cuban government sent troops to man an armoured brigade with Soviet-supplied T-62 tanks that the Syrians couldn't man due to armored crew losses during the war. The Cuban Brigade took part in combat during the (Syrian) War of Attrition January - May 1974, where the Syrians attempted to retake the summit of Mount Hermon (March-May 1974), seeing heavy losses on both sides. Following the 31 May 1974 disenagement deal between Israel and Syria, the Cubans were eventually withdrawn from Syria in December 1975 after suffering 180 KIA and 250 WIA.

1975 - 1991: (Angolan War as part of OPERATION CARLOTA)

Over 15 years, 300,000 Cuban Soldiers and 50,000 Cuban contractors participated in CARLOTA, with 2,000~ dying. Basically, it was a huge free for all in the region:

Cuba / MLPA / SWAPO / FNLC / ANC / USSR
vs
South Africa / UNITA / Zaire / FNLA / FLEC / United States

In 1988, there was consistent, repeated combat between South African Olifants and Cuban T-55s in Angola, with a few Cuban T-62s in the action.
