				 Continual Battery Bombardment
Could someone explain whats going on here?
The 15cm batterie AT0 is continually bombarding. I set it as a pre-bombardment in setup but it's bombarded ever turn since. Its turn 6 now.

I have no control over it in that it never appears in an available bombardment unit and being off map I can't move it to cancel the order.

I know you can lose comms with art but anything plotted stops once it's fired, this one doesn't.

To exacerbate the problem it seems to be more inaccurate than usual landing some distance away. In the re-runs of turn 6 it's landed on the Panthers (AK) and even furhter the Flak (AA0).

Yeh OK it does that but the real problem is it won't stop?

Finally got control over it turn 16 when in ran out of ammo. Things been carrying out a creeping barrage except it's been going the wrong way, though my lines. |

Yours is the only report of anything like that ever reportedThere are three ways to set up artillery. Which on did you use for this battery?

 Same way I always do.
Select a unit, usually an FO or A0 for pre bombardment, press b.
 Find a location to target.
Select the art unit and press bombard button.

I have two turn saves if it helps.

				 Re: Continual Battery Bombardment
When I wrote "There are three ways to set up artillery. Which on did you use for this battery?" I meant was it bought as..
Under command, Direct Support or General support

If it was either of the last two the unit would show up as D/S or G/S front of it's unit designation in the bombard menu

I did find the unit in question in the second save after I pressed the Cancel program button and it does not show D/S or G/S so that wasn't the problem but that unit did not appear in the bombardment menu in either save until I pressed the cancel button

I have no doubt there is an explanation but I don't have one ATM

IF what you described does happen again press the Program / Cancel button loacated at the botom right of the bombardment menu. That unit was invisible to me in both saves until I pressed that button. When I pressed cancel it reapeared and showed 30 shells available for all four guns

 | So you cancelled the whole bombardment program. Never thought of that one.

Yeah as I said, it contunued to do it's thing until t16 firing every turn.
At a rough calc from t6/7 that would be 30 shells.

 | First time I have ever had to try that as an option in over 2 decades and I did not see it cancel all bombardments.

All it did in this case was make the unit you were having problems with re-appear in the menu so something went squiffy in a way not reported until now and pressing Cancel "fixed" it |

				 Re: Continual Battery Bombardment
Sounds like AT0 is on the list for a court martial. 100% insubordination. In game terms, it's a matter of someone not doing their job on the battlefield like they were supposed to, plain and simple. You almost have too expect it's going to happen sometime over the course of many battles. I think the same thing happened to me once before, I just pretended it was an act of miscommunication. What's that saying - "There is no reason why, the only reason is to do and die", or however that saying goes. |

				 Re: Continual Battery Bombardment
Another example. New scenario first turn after setting pre-bombardment.
On map 120mm GWS, unit AX0 an AX1 not plotted but fire at the village centred around hex 38,45. Their initial plot was nowhere near that hex and fired smoke in front of the victory hexes directly ahead.

Cancel works as does loading them onto their transports.

Pre turn 0 and save 1 attached.
