Just a long shot.
Are there any "upgradable bios" on your system?
Some years ago there were viruses that could hide in an updatable chip.
The most common was on video and network cards.
Install new hard drive and Poof, they reinfect it.

EVE is a Massive Multiplayer Online RPG game. It's in space, and it seems to have good gameplay and graphics set up. The downside is it costs a monthly fee.

No one has seen what Homeworld 2 does exactly, alone get a demo. Methinks you've played Homeworld: Cataclysm, which is not developed by relic, and does get a little stiff.
