Default Why does my full Version look like the demo?

Hi.. Just got my full Version of SE and
put the 1.19 patch on.

When I go to "NEW GAME" and then under
"Players" select "Add Existing", it
only shows 8 races to select. I thought
the full Version had 20 and the demo
only had 8?

Thanks for your help!

Kuroth, are you trying a quick start? MM only had 4 races missing from the quick start menu. If you look at the lower right there is a little arror which will take you to the 2d page of quick start races.

To add those missing races you have to add lines 17 thru 20 in the settings.txt file within the "Data" folder.

Hope this helps.
I tried to put my lines from the file in here but they wouldn't fit.

Kuroth, make sure your icon is pointing to the full Version and not the demo Version. If that is not the problem, try uninstalling and reinstalling the full Version.

Thanks Kimball... I had already uninstalled
the demo before I installed the full game.

Kimball are you saying that when you select
"Add Existing" you see 20 or 8???

I have 2 friends who I also got to buy this
game and they only see 8 also..

It looks like to me the only way you can
select form the 20 races is under the
"Quick Start" option??? This does not
seem right???

Anyone???

Thanks!

I reinstalled the game and I still only have 8 emp files in the empires directory. Should there be more?

Thanks,
John

Oops, my bad, I misunderstood the question. You are correct, there are only 8 empires to choose from when you try to "add existing." You can create other other empires by choosing "create new." You are correct in that there are 16 reaces available with the quick start option. Sorry for the confusion.

The reason for this is that the quickstart races are most likely derived from the AI settings files in the races folder in the pictures folder while the add existing looks in the emp folder for .emp files. If you want all races available as add existing from the emp folder just go through the AI settings files for the races and create the .emp files for the missing races. If you want the missing races to be in quick start do like pathfinder said and edit the settings.txt file in the data folder. Or go find jpinards fixed settings.txt file that does just that(and only that).
