I think Karan_dry is just a modified .map file - if you want, I expect someone can package it up into a zip, but you'll need ... a renamed karan.tga file as well, the way your server works? I think it expects the .map (text) file and the .tga (background map) file to have matching filenames?
Individual players don't need to find the Karan Dry, because as long as the host uses the modified, dry, .map file, that controls the game for everyone - they can just use the regular karan files.
Those who _do_ want the dry Version for their own games, it's found on Illwinter's site, under maps, right with the regular Karan download. The karan2.dry is simply the .map file, and thus quite small.

I've packaged them up as karan_dry.map and karan_dry.tga in a karan_dry.zip file, but am having no luck uploading - 0 KB/sec.
Update : I believe the karan_dry files have successfully been uploaded.
As I mentioned, I just renamed the karan tga file, figuring that a couple megs of redundant / duplicate file wasn't a big deal with todays computers.

Anonymous? I seem to be missing something...
And, yeah, the concept of a really slow game does seem to have dizzying appeal at the moment. The question is how many people still approve of it after this little test run of ours is through, around September of next year.
Update: My mistake, turns out my browser just wonked out on me the first time I used the "confess" feature. My bad.
Updated update: Of course, in the process of realizing that that was my only oversight, I created a new pretender, uploaded him, then confirmed I was him. Naturally, I forgot to set a password for this latter god.
It's now five recreations of the exact same god(To get titles nearly as kickass as the ones I initially got) later, and all is well in the House of Me.
Yet another update: Wow. Full house. It's becoming less and less likely that I'll survive the early-game expansion.

Still working on my pretender, I'll have it up by sometime Wednesday (the proposed start); if it looks like almost everyone else has uploaded I'll find the time to finish up earlier.

Does 'dry' mean no water? I seem to recall there are all races in this game, including the two water ones.

Nope. Just means that the inland lakes aren't connected as neighbors to each other and to the ocean. Someone picked "Dry" as the easiest way to distinguish the revised .map setup; the original Karan gives simply incredibly advantages to the "wet" nations.

No, "dry" Karan is the Version of Karan where the inland lakes are not considered neighbors of the sea provinces that the rivers connect them to.
This has slight ramifications on the spread of dominion for a land nation across water, since the water-shortcut, while not accessible to land units, still affects spread of dominion. It also has an effect on inland water access for water nations.
The underlying issue that there is not enough water for both water nations remains unaddressed in both the original and "Dry" Versions of Karan.

True - but general consensus is that Karan simply doesn't have enough room for both water nations. Then again - it probably doesn't have enough room for all 15 land nations either.
In a situation with all 17 nations, either Version has something of an advantage for the water nations - one of them is probably going to be one of the nations surviving well into the mid-to-late game, and one will die. That's a 50% chance, better than most of the nations will have.
Of course, Vegas has odds on whether it will be Atlantis or R'lyeh still standing, and those odds aren't 50/50.

Also note that in a game with 17 nations, the water nations have more nominal provinces per nation than the land nations. 20 water provinces for 2 water nations - 10 each.
142 land provinces, for 15 land nations - 9.46666... each.
And this is ignoring that both Atlantis and R'lyen can easily take land provinces, while most land setups have difficulty going into the water.
