Re: Space Empires vs Gal Civ 2
Look 3 posts down... I thought muopos84 was making FUN of se4 in the first paragraph (50 megaton talisman! You can PRAY!) but then in the second paragraph he says he LIKES the variety!

One of the bes tthings that i like about SE is that you can tweak the game as you go. Have a great idea that will fit the gameplay? Mod it right in and keep on playing. It's really great for that.

Re: Space Empires vs Gal Civ 2
I dun like flame wars and forum vs forum crap, but someone needs to tell john hamp that sales != quality(spears, nsync, good charlote all sell tons of crap and big mammas house 2 was the #1 flik last week)... and if shrapnel had the promotional budget of other publishers and could put adds in every PC game magazine out, and then released in retail so every redneck in walmart can buy the game on impulse, SE4G would be the undispiuted king.
Also with enough knuckle grease and scripting and graphical knowhow, SE4 could BECOME GalCiv with slightly less advanced graphics, with multiplayer. The reverse isn't true, and after you clobber the cheating AI over and over, what's next? Play the humans again and again? Want to play a race of mindless space cannibles? Want to play as your favorite race against another human? No luck with GalCiv, welcome to SE4G.
Also some of those people are overstating the complexity of the tech tree and management of SE4G somewhat, I know there's lots of stuff to research, lots of things to customize and build, but it's not that intricate so as to be confusing to players, and while stock AI may not get all the intricasies modded AI will rock you. Can you even tweak the stuff in galciv?

Re: Space Empires vs Gal Civ 2
Welcome to the Forums BlizzardGR!!
I don't think Kana was talking about anyone in particular when he said people were bagging on the series, just a reference to several somewhat negative comments spread amongst several people.
