Trolls get plenty of iron from foolish knights. A troll suffering from a gold deficiency displays symptoms of irritability (though it's really hard to tell given their normally cheerful disposition) and an unusual craving for shiny objects of any sort, especially eyeballs.

Yeah, I found that out once in a monster World game. "Hey, I've got tons of Water gems, and there are all those pesky Sea provinces to conquer... let's place all Sea Kings on Monthly casting of Sea King's Court for a few turns..." followed, a few turns later, by "Bankrupt? Me?"
