Re: A Sweet VICTORY by SUMMERTIME - PBW GAME
1. What did you like about the game - role playing; ship designs; one-way warp-points
2. what did you dislike about the game - very standart run to stellar manipulation; tallisman; very standart intel
3. what did you like about the administration of the game - tesco doesn't hinder the game much :-P seriously - we all were polite, which i like
4. what did you dislike about the administration of the game - nothing
5. what did you like about the mod - makes the game a little bit different
6. what did you dislike about the mod - makes the game a little bit different - should be more different :-) all people will take racial trait only to get weapon - we have 3 organics now - next time we all will be organic-religious
And finally post your stories for all to read i'll ask my girlfriend to write it - she is a reporter :-)

Re: A Sweet VICTORY by SUMMERTIME - PBW GAME
Kudos to Tesco for a well designed and hosted game. Also thanks to my fellow players who made this a great game.
I will try to give some info on the gameplay later, but here are some thoughts on the setup.
Map:
Was generally good, but it was not "fair". Especially the poor Zardalu up in the left corner had a bad position. They was placed in a small string of systems with the south warpoint going straight to the homesystem of the Brotherhood, and the western warppoint a one way point (the wrong way of course ) towards the CHAOS. Personally I was smack in the middle of the map with easy defendable borders, so I can't complain.
The Sweetmod ver. 1.0:
I liked it. The lack of good early weapons made people a little more carefull declearing war in the beginning. Later in the game, torpedos, shield depleters, ripper beams and the racial weapon was more than enough to build powerfull ships.
I'll be back to try for "A sweet Victory by wintertime"

Did I miss seeing the victory conditions when I took over an empire? I haven't even been at war yet. Maybe I should look them up and work to improve my score =%^)>
I'm enjoying the game as a replacement player. However, I have so many planets that I'm not sure what to do with all of them....Greybeard

Re: A Sweet VICTORY by SUMMERTIME - PBW GAME
It was a good game even if the Bakana spanked me. My only glory moment was novaing 75 of his ships.
I had a sad ending because once I lost my main planets I started to loose the intelligence war. Dieing in combat is one thing. Loosing to the invisible intelligence project is sad.
1. What did you like about the game: Good players and good interaction with them
2. what did you dislike about the game: Darn intelligence projects (Seems to be the weakest part of my game)
3. what did you like about the administration of the game: When a race had a disallowed trait the game was restarted without issue. I also liked the custom mod that made setup easier.
4. what did you dislike about the administration of the game: No complaints
5. what did you like about the mod: Interesting approach made you play the game differently
6. what did you dislike about the mod: Getting spanked by the Bakana (oh wait that was not an issue with the mod)

Re: A Sweet VICTORY by SUMMERTIME - PBW GAME
I've enjoyed the game very much. The map gave the opportunity to build a huge empire, but it was so big that I had very few relations with empires that were at the other side of it. Too bad some of them have grown powerful enough to win without problem, and I've never even met them !
It also took me a lot of time to handle an empire with more than 120 planets...
I've got my *** kicked by the Taerans, which were attacked by me and the Xi'chung because of their refusal to enter into a partnership. Too bad the Chaos was busy fighting elsewhere, or this three empire alliance could have gone far and win this stupid war. It was a good lesson for later : if you have partners, don't declare a war that one of them can't join... After the fall of the Xi'chung and a brief period of subjugation (very hard to handle too, I had to mothball almost all my ships !), it took me a lot of time to go back to a normal situation. I wanted to fight with my allies the terran threat and gathered some big modern fleets, but it was too late, the game was over...
I forgot : Great game administration and mod too. After a long period of peace, I felt the global political situation getting worse and worse, and then exploding into several conflicts at the same time. It's been very exiting to see alliances and interests evolving...
I won't play the next sweet game, because I've got already two PBW games running and can't handle more at the same time, sorry.

Re: A Sweet VICTORY by SUMMERTIME - PBW GAME
1. What did you like about the game?
It was an interesting and different concept, which helps to hold my interest.
2. what did you dislike about the game?
My empire setup.
3. what did you like about the administration of the game?
Tesco runs a game with minimal interference and maximum concern for fair play.
4. what did you dislike about the administration of the game?
Nothing
5. what did you like about the mod?
This is a good mod for PBW play. Taking away the stock weapons makes empires very different and, therefor, more interesting [shameless plug](same thing I try to do with the Strange series).[/shameless plug]
6. what did you dislike about the mod.
I do not like the way intel works in SEIV, but that is not the fault of this mod.
I enjoyed this game very much. I setup my empire without any racial trait to take advantage of the research to non-normal standard weapons and had 2 huge fleets of ships protecting my choke points when I went to war with the Taera. I also had the economy to pump out 85 DN's every 4 turns. My weaponry was GHB with tractor/repulser and Torps with repulser. My fleets were chewed to shreds by Taera's Organic weaponry. This lesson I learned the hard way, racial weaponry is superior.
So was Taera the victor? Someone please report.

Re: A Sweet VICTORY by SUMMERTIME - PBW GAME
Nope, the Earth Alliance was declared the victor by a vote of the players.

Re: A Sweet VICTORY by SUMMERTIME - PBW GAME
First, I would like to express that it was a TEAM victory, not a solo victory by me. Winning conditions was Last alliance (max 3 players). ToddT (Bakana) and Randallw (Zardalu) both played important parts in the finals. The game ended by consent when our alliance was too powerfull to stop.
The final action of the game was a war with the Taerans (Preacherman) who had built a massive empire. I had an unstoppable fleet who started at 350 ships (mostly dreads with maxed shields, the talisman and maxed psycic weapons) which won 4 battles in a row against equally sized or larger Taeran fleets. Luck was also on my side as I got first shot in all 4 battles, and the largest battle was fought over one of my Homeworlds with additional hardware available (+ the shrines in the system).
Also Bakanas foray into the Taerans deep south was a very good move as it forced Preacher to divide his forces. His organic ships was very tough, and I do not think I could have won a battle against 2 of his fleets at once.
In the end I sent the fleet into the Taera Homesystem where the Last battle was fought on the warppoint. I won the battle and Preacher blew up the system with 4 of his (5) homeworlds in an attempt to catch my fleet. I thought my fleet would be doomed when I saw the destroyer over the sun, but by splitting my damaged fleet, I managed to save the 100 or so ships left with full movementpoints.
Question: I do not believe I had any speed advantage on the stardestroyer, so was it just luck I got away or do stellar mainpulation always happen after movement ?
I would like to thank my fellow players and partners for a fun and educational game. Allthough it was the Talisman who won the final battles, diplomacy was just as important for the win. Both in the case of the partnership I had the whole game with the Bakana (who also founded my war effort when minerals was scarse), and the failure of the other players to take out the single religious player (I don't count Nods empire, as they never played any part in the game). Most of the game I had T/R or better with all the other 10 players, getting about 1 Mill in minerals and 500 K research points from trade . This was very good, as I was very poor until I got stellar manip and could create a bunch of those nice 200+ % planets.
Once again:
Kudos to Tesco for running great games.
To those who yet to try one of the "sweet" games: What are you waiting for ? You are missing out on the best games in town
