Barbarian leader question
Anyone have an idea why an un-berzerked (unwounded) barbarian leader, placed way in the back, scripted to stay behind troops would charge the front lines? Is there a language barrier? Was he only pretending to read the orders? or... ?

Re: Barbarian leader question
Because he does not count your troops guarding them as a valid target for the stay behind troops order. You should add some archers.

Sorry ( ), I don't understand either of these sentences. Would you mind elaborating, please?

Re: Barbarian leader question
'Guard Commander' is an order given to a squad.
'Stay behind troops' is an order given to a commander.
A commander will not stay behind any troops guarding them.
A squad of archers (assuming they do not have the Guard Commander order) is an example of troops that should be used in conjuction with the 'Stay behind troops' order.

Re: Barbarian leader question
Thank you, I just about follow. But the OP didn't even mention having any guards, nor would that explain about "charging the front line" (unless you mean the commander would attack if all other troops had gone forward, I guess....)

Soy,
Thanks for the answer but the only troops (way in front) were set to attack closet. No GCs in play.

Re: Barbarian leader question
"Stay behind troops" means stay right behind the troops. He'll advance to farthest back squad. If that's at the front line, he'll be right there behind them.

Thanks. Odd I haven't noticed that before. Lacking an order "spread picnic blanket and sip Merlot on back lines" I'll have to opt for hold x5 and stay behind troops if I'm without an archer squad.

A cheap magic bow and the Fire order can also work well for this. Just make sure you don't use a Bow of War or similar with a low precision commander, as friendly fire tends to end poorly.
