Re: map editor help
The map editor I know (the one I got with the Matrix Mod Launcher) is not particularly user-friendly. Click on the systems, planets, warp points, etc on the map. You will probably have to resize windows by dragging the edges to make them larger or smaller. Experiment before trying to do anything serious.
If you just want to move a few warp points, or change a few planet characteristics, the job won't be too bad. If you want to start from scratch, it's a long and tedious process.

Re: map editor help
The map editor wasn't supplied with the Matryx mod launcher. It was supplied by Malfador in one of the patches. There is no 3rd party map editor available for se4 because malfador hasn't released the necessary information for people to create an se4-compatible map file.
ANd yes, it's not exactly easy to use, and yes, ppl have asked (in vain) for malfador to release the necessary info.
However you should be able to change any and all map properties, including the planet characteristics and warp points. Can't quite remember how, mind you... I do remember thqat I learned everything I needed to know by studying game-generated maps.
Hope that help.

Re: map editor help
If you go to a system, and click on a sector, there will be a list at the bottom showing everything in the sector.
Click the object you want, and then press the edit button.

Re: map editor help
But how, exactly do I change a warp point or a specific planet type?

Re: map editor help
To change a planet type, select the planet, Edit, and select the new type from the drop-down menu.
Changing a warp point kind of depends on what you want to change, but it's the same general idea.
Everything in the Edit box is either a number, a text label, or a drop-down menu item.

Re: map editor help
Sure, or you could just make one from scratch. Just make sure to change the image or it wont work.
This is for Maps btw, not save games!
Another useful tip (if you want to make nice looking maps) is to 'mask background objects' or whatever the option is. Otherwise the map will look cut and pasted.

Re: map editor help
Actually you can't edit a star to be a sphereworld. In the map editor stars are stars and sphereworlds are planets. What you do is delete the star and add a planet, select spherworld as the size, choose your atmosphere, and pick the sphereworld image.

Re: map editor help
I stand corrected on the Matrix Mod Launcher. I must have downloaded the map editor during the same session. At any rate, it can be accessed from the mod launcher.
