About the Fantasy Empires mod !
Hi everyone,
i just wanted to share my thoughts about this mod., mainly because it took Spoon so much time to make this mod, yet noone is saying a word about it.
Right now one (the first) game is played and i have to admit: I love this mod. Its a really great mod, better them some commercial fantasy strategy games. This mod has excellent and nice pictures, the tech tree is well made. It is very deep and features LOTS of stuff, like different charas for each class, nice things like auras, spells from all kinds of magic, like water and fire as well as rather unconventional stuff. Weapons and the like can get mounts which "show" enhancements (like a Chainmail armor with +2 buff)
I would suggest everyone to take a look, this mod has MUCH potentional. It does NOT feature AI, but its better this way.
In the current game roleplaying is VERY important, since im undead i like to write cheesy Messages to frighten my opponent and i always get nice and roleplaying answers.
WELL DONE Spoon, this is really the best mod for SE 4, you have done a very good work.
I was wondering, do you have future plans ? Maybe add more detail components or race specific stuff ? Maybe even another race ? I hope you do !

Re: About the Fantasy Empires mod !
Unfortunately, where are a lot of underapreciated mods around, like FantasyEmpires, Adamant, Eclipse and others. Many people just don't want to bother with mods. And this is very sad, cause the moddability is the BEST part of SE4. Vanilla game quickly becomes boring - all the tricks and tactics are explored, and there are very few space for imagination and analysis, except diplomacy and roleplaying.

Yes, Fantasy Empires is one of my favorite mods too! I do wonder where all those cool images came from and if the owners of those images are going to come after the creator of the mod sometime...

Had you bothered to read the readme, you would see that they came from the Magic The Gathering Online game. Mod authors do not write readmes for their health, you know!

Thanks for the kind words -- I'm certainly enjoying our first game, and hope to play in at least a few more before SE5!

Heh! I hope not! As Fyron said, they are from Magic: The Gathering. I believe as long as I'm not selling something, the good folks at Wizard of the Coast aren't going to care much. At least, I hope the don't send an Invisible Stalker after me .

Depending on interest levels, I might add new content. I will definitely fix any bugs we find and do another balancing pass regardless.
I'd really like to add a few more races (Dwarves especially!), but making shipsets is time consuming, so that will depend on interest/free time. I'd also like to take another crack at getting AI to work...
As far as new components/facilities/etc go, those are quick and easy to add, so if you have any ideas, feel free to tell me all about 'em!
