A Positive Comment on Ministers
Some have complained that the ministers aren't too swift sometimes. I like to think of ministers as dedicated public servants who must deal with stupid bureaucrats, slimey politicians, corrupt businessmen, and the unwashed masses. Since they don't have my dictatorial power and charisma, events don't always occur as they know would be best. This explains a lot of their apparent stupidity (e.g., they colonize a tiny planet with 120% minerals before a huge planet with 100% minerals because the greedy citizens are eager to get rich quick, a fleet leaves a system undefended to go exploring because the admiral has political aspirations, etc.). If I don't want these things to happen, then I have to micromanage, which gets increasingly difficult as my empire grows. Just like reality.
