The Peasants are revolting
What are people doing to squash riots when they occur....?
Do you use troops? If so...what %
Do you bring in ships?
Do you build those Pacification centers on neighboring planets?

Re: The Peasants are revolting
Troops can actually tick off the population even more if they are peaceful. I park a fleet in orbit. Peaceful types appreciate the "protection," simple souls that they are.
I also build a UPC in every system. Happy colonists are productive colonists, so anything that boosts their morale is worth the price!

Re: The Peasants are revolting
Another thing that seems to help is building a medical lab facility. They do three things. Stops up to level 3 plauges, helps population grow faster(1%) and helps the system population grow happier. Also I have been told to leave a fleet of 10 or more ships over the planet. Not sure if that works though.
It is important to know how you set the game up. You can be neutral, bloodthirsty, and peacful. It defaults to peaceful. They dislike attacking and invading. Bloodthirst is the opposite. If you fail in battle or are not at war with someone they aren't happy. Nuetral doesn't like contact or treaties.

Yes, it works. Here are the lines that make it work, located in the happiness.txt file.
Our Ship in Sector := -5
Our Ship in System := -3
Negative numbers are indicative of improving happiness.

Re: The Peasants are revolting
Well for bloodthirsty races that takes a bit longer because you only get -2 and -1 for having ships in the sector and system. The quickest way to make the Bloodthirsty races happy is to declare war. -100 happiness for that.
