Supply bug?
I am playing the Demo.
I built a ship at a planet that did not have a supply depot. The ship was constructed with zero supply. So I sent another ship over to join with non-supplied ship. The next turn no supplies were past to the unsupplied ship. I then built a supply depot at the planet and still no supplies are given to the ship, however, other ships passing over the planet do get supplied. What can be done to get this ship some supplies?

Re: Supply bug?
When you say you had a ship join with the 0 supply ship, do you mean you put them both in the same fleet? That should have made them share supply.
What is the max supply on the ship with 0 supply? Have you built that same type of ship successfully on other planets?

Re: Supply bug?
Yes I did make the ships join in the same fleet. And yes I did make the same ship type on other planets which already had a supply depot and they were supplied.
One thing to note, The first ship built at a planet w/o a supply depot gets supplied. It was the second ship built that gets no supply.

Re: Supply bug?
Definitely sounds like a bug to me.
Do you still have the savegame? Send it to Malfador support with a description of the bug and hopefuly they'll fix it.

Re: Supply bug?
If I'm reading this right, you need to move the non-supplied ships off the Supply Depot then back on. I believe the resupply operation is performed upon ENTERING the sector with a supply depot. So, if you built your ship first, then your SD, it did not happen 'cause you did not ENTER the sector, you were already there.
Resupply does seem to have a few bugs. I've found that if you retrofit a ship with a Quantum Reactor (from a ship without one), you will have Zero supplies untill you pass over a Supply Depot. You can't even merge it with a fleet that has supplies to share.
It seems that a ship built or retrofitted ending up with Zero supplies, you have to do an initial resupply at a Supply Depot. At least I think that's how it works. I have tested a little of this theory by doing the following:
1. Have 2 ships identical 5 engines and no additional supply storage. No other components seem to matter. At a Space Yard but no Supply Depot (or even a ship with repair bays for that matter).
2. Retrofit 1 ship with just a Quantum Reactor added. When retrofitted ship still shows supplies left (because of supplies in engines).
3. Retrofit 2nd ship w/ Quantum Reactor AND all new engines. When retrofitted ship shows Zero supplies. Then see above solution for resupplying ship.
Anyone else experience anything like this??? If so, could someone forward this to MM / SG???

Re: Supply bug?
Did the ship have engines? If so then it would have supplies when built.

Re: Supply bug?
Yes the ship had 6 engines. Since the ship had zero supply, I could not move the ship off the planet in order to move back over supply depot. The ship was a standard destroyer warship at tech 3 or 4 in engines and weapons.
Try it yourself. Build a ship at a planet that does not have a supply depot. The first one will get supplied and the second one will not.

1. Cannot be that the ship was build without supplies - unless you've forgotten to put some engines on it .. happend to me once
..but what did you mean with "second ship"? 2 ships in the prod. qu. ?
2. Joining them in one fleet will force them to use the same supply pool, thus in the next(!) turn they should be able to move ..

Re: Supply bug?
Yes, I know what you're saying. The problem (that I ham having) is that if you retrofit a ship at a yard / repair bay (planet or ship based) without a Supply Depot as I described below, it doesn't seem to get ANY supplies until you move it to a planetary Supply Depot. Even merging it with another ship in a fleet to share supplies doesn't help.
Try it yourself (the 2 ship scenario I discussed below)!! Build the two ships - do not put them in a fleet - then retrofit them like this:
1. 2 ships (make 'em simple) with bridge, crew Q's, and Life Support with 5 engines (or whatever max) and a repair bay. NO OTHER SUPPLY FEATURES or storage.
2. Take them both to a blank sector in any system.
3. Retrofit one adding just Quantum Reactor and the other retrofit REPLACING engines AND adding QR. This is assuming you have NO OTHER supply storage / solar collector, etc on board. This means that the ship your replacing engines will have ZERO supplies while it's being repaired.
4. Let them repair themselves.
The one you replaced the engines on will not get any supplies (even if you make a fleet out of both of them) until it visits a Supply Depot.
And from my experience, a ship with Zero supplies still gets 1 movement point. If you built a ship BEFORE you built your SD, move it off the planet 1 sector, then move it back (to the planet with the new Supply Depot) the next turn. You should be supplied.
I remember this problem discussed in another thread somewhere and I believe MM is aware. If no one else can recreate the problem, maybe it's a "ghost" left over from my Demo install. I probably should remove the demo and reinstall the full ver.

Re: Supply bug?
I've retrofitted a number of ships at planets without resupply depots without this problem. I have not run the test described but it sounds like the problem is when a combination of engines and supply storage are retrofitted at the same time.
I almost always add supply storage to a ship and may not have updated them both at the same time. I'll test are post.
