old world map
Just so we don't fall short on topics...
I refer to the map for DOM-I.
Now this is a great map. I really like the detail given to starting positions and climate/geography.
Plus it's a quite diffcult.
I wonder if the person that designed it is a member of this forum. I'd like to first commend his great work and second to ask if he has made more maps.

BTW,
has anyone tried the elric map?
is it a good map?
perhaps I should post a poll to find out the best created map for DOM-I.

Re: old world map
There is never a "best". For any question. There is only Pros and Cons.
As for the Elric map it was an excellent Elric map. As close as anyone could get to creating a theme based map in Dom 1. I hope he will tackle it again with all the new options that Dom 2 will gime him.

Its Kristoffer who made it, he made all the dom 1 maps made by illwinter, that is all maps except: realmwars, hexmap, northamerica, hexblitz, elric and dandellion. He has also made all but one of the dom 2 maps, and that map he has converted from an existing ma of brittain.

Re: old world map
BTW, IW people and betatesters, can you give us a primer on the Dom2 maps ?
Will we have our old Dom1 faves ? What are the new cool maps and scenarios/scripted maps ?

The old ones are easy to convert to the dom 2 format, takes a little work but not to much, but they will lokk the same way they used to. Kristoffer has also redrawn the Urgaia map. Currently there is only one* scenario, if I recall correctly.
*EDIT: I remembered wrong, there are 3 scenarios.

Re: old world map
Well, maybe 5 scenarios now ? Who told 5 ??
And are there other new "vanilla" maps (I mean non scripted, or just a little) ?

Re: old world map
There are currently 7 maps in total, one of which is Urgaia and one that is the British Isles. And this time I actually checked and counted in order not to make an *** of myself again.

Re: old world map
Will you publish the maps in their original layered form (presumably still done in gimp)? I remember there were a couple of the larger maps from Dom 1 that I liked, but they just had too many provinces for my taste (e.g. Old World, Cimmeria). It would be cool to be able to easily tweak them.

Re: old world map
Unfortunately the maps in Dom I wasn't made in layers. I have remade Urgaia. I rescaled it, replaced most colours with some beige, pasted mountains and forests from other maps and finally redrew the borders. Didn't take too much time. I will make a library with mountains and trees etc for those of you who doesn't like to draw. This will hopefully increase the number of player made maps.
