Default one icon?

Back when I had Win95 I know I had a bunch of programs to make icons. I could probably dig up some free ones to make an icon.dll

Is anyone else working on this? Im not going to knock the choice of the devs in picking that creature but I need a few more to pick from. I have the Dom2demo still on my machine. And the full Dominions2 of course. And a copy of Dominions2 in a different directory so that my failures at using the MapEditor dont clutter my game directory.

For Dom 1 I also ended up with a Version that kept the original maps, and a Version that I felt free to download other peoples maps into (I needed to keep track of originals and I have a rotten memory)

Plus there was the full registered Version of my Son, and one for my Brother-in-law, because they prefer to play the MP games from MY computer instead of their lesser machines. And this way their gods didnt overwrite mine. I could fix that with a batch file I guess since I havent decided yet whether to buy so many copies of Dom2 but they could still use a seperate icon.

Besides the full copies I need icons for the games I enter. We had instructions from Dom1 for a "do 1 turn and quit" icon you could make on your desktop for each MP game you were in. It went straight to the IP and Port of the server, let you play your turn, then quit back to desktop with no intros and fades. I had 4 or 5 at a time on my desktop all going straight to different games so I didnt have to type in the IP number and port every time.

And how about some icons for the docs. Im tired of walking the directory path to get to them 2 or 3 tines a day but I dont want a dozen of that same creeature all over my screen with just different names.

SOMEONE surely is interested in collecting a bunch of little icons out of the game? I kindof like the Baphomet dude. A mage or sage might be nice for the docs. Maybe a castle for the mapeditor

Default Re: one icon?

OK I dug up some of the info from Dom1 on how to create an icon JUST for doing a turn in a game. this makes it easy for me to click on it to snag my turn file. This is for games that are done on a tcp server (someones machine up all the time to receive requests). If you already have an icon for Dominions2 on your desktop then right-click that and choose "create shortcut" to get another icon. Right click that one and select "Properties". Find the line that is calling dom.exe add this to it.

If you use -w on the command line, you get a window. Other useful
options include -i to skip the intro, and -f to skip the fade effect in
the spellbook.

In fact, if you are playing with a server, you can pass in the ip address
and port on the command line as well, here's an example:

"dom.exe" -wif --tcpclient --ipadr (ip_address) --port (port)

Where the content in the braces () is to be replaced with the correct numbers for the server of your game. If there are quotes after dom.exe be sure to add the switches OUTSIDE of those quotes. There are alot of other switches that can be added to do speed up or slow down the game for just that one icon (its a text file in the doc directory of dominions). This way you can set your daily-turn game to be ugly but fast with no music if you wanted, and still leave the other icon playing Dominions2 in all its glory.

You can create one for games done by email or by ftp but it would be different for each program people use.
