Default opinions from modders...

Is it possible to create a unique set of facilities and components..possibly even ships for a specific race?? What about the organic and crystaline types of tech..would it be possible to copy that and create say a Klingon specific type of tech...change a few things here and there, add a few Klingonish structures and techs...then when creating the Klingons..have them select that advanced race tech. I think this should work although I havent tried it yet. Any opinions??

I should think the idea is very reasonable. I think that it sounds very interesting too. I am going to start fiddling with the idea and see how it works. I would say right now that additional components would need to be added in the pictures/ components folder, but that would be entertaining also.

by the looks of things and what others have done I would say yes, you can make a special tech tree. just have to be careful with the "create" files and their calls.

but I sure am NOT an experienced MOD'er soooo...

You most certainly can. It is not that hard to learn how either, but it does take a lot of work - you will need to edit lots of files. You need to make a new racial trait in RacialTraits.txt and add new tech in TechArea.txt files, then you will need to make new components and facilities in the components.txt and facilities.txt files and associate them with the new tech you have put in (remember that each new racial trait tech has its number that must be included in the files). And finally you will need to make new .emp files (the old ones don't work anymore) and play-test the new components to see if there are any bugs or balance problems - this can take longer then making new stuff, but it is necessary.
