Using your neighbor\'s blood slaves on the battlefield
I havent played Abyssia using blood magic much because I have never liked giving mages slaves, since they never Last long without becoming toasted crispy bacon bits.
But was wondering: unlike gems, which stay in your pocket during a battle, slaves pop up and hang out getting fried on the field, so do you think it would be possible to use someone else's slaves? By this I mean: have a friendly commander who doesnt happen to radiate deadly heat carry around the slaves, they pop out and hang out around him (a few squares away) and your mages can use them. Would this / could this work? (Note that Abysia has no natural non-toasting commanders, so you would go have to find some.)

Re: Using your neighbor\'s blood slaves on the battlefield
Tinkthank, this is definitely doable. In one of my Abysian games, a mage close to my warlocks did cast blood spells (only my warlocks had blood slaves). I don't know exactly how close they need to be, I had tried to spread them out so that the slaves wouldn't burn too fast. I have only seen it happen that one time though, so there could be other factors involved besides distance. Maybe a critical number of blood slaves?

I've seen blood mages sacrifice slaves who were in the opposite corner of their rear area.

Clever... Abysia battlefield blood just got much more useful.

Re: Using your neighbor\'s blood slaves on the battlefield
If this is true, you could give the slaves to a non-Abysian commander to hold, give him a magic stick of some kind so he won't run off, and then your Abysian mages could cast using those slaves....

You can also use backend blood slaves with Pain Transfer. Did you always have your slaves sitting in heat aura Cherry?

Yes. You can use them if you script the spells, if the spells arn't scripted the AI will rarely cast a spell that uses them.

Hm. If you can use other commanders' blood slaves, that makes me wonder whether you can enslave the other side's blood slaves, then use them.

Heh cool, I thought it was a stupid question. Fun with Abysia is awaiting!
Oh Wauthan made a great mod, Sacred Salamanders, in which they cost 80 gp but are sacred; I think this makes them more viable (upkeep) and Abysia slightly more variable.
