Upkeep costs
I read in the faq that upkeep for a unit is about unit price in gold / 15. Or is it Resources / 15?
Can you find the exact upkeep for each unit?
And do commanders have upkeep also?

Re: Upkeep costs
It is cost/15. Commanders too.
I hate to say it because it sounds so uptight, but.... this question was answered Last week at the latest! Searching under "upkeep" doth help!

Re: Upkeep costs
I'm making a list of all teh small hints I have found in the forum ....
Maintenance for non summoned troops is 1/15th the purchase cost, except for sacred troops which are 1/30th
[Kel]
It should be noted that some summoned troops have a purchase cost, and therefore also have upkeep despite being summoned. If a summoned troop can be produced at provinces that have a specific site, then it also has upkeep which is based on this purchase cost.

Re: Upkeep costs
Is there any way to reduce the upkeep cost of a unit? ie. are there magic items to make it/them Sacred? Spells to do same? Any heros whose armies require no upkeep? Any other way?
I'm playing Pythium at the moment and have about 16 hydras in 3 armies, but upkeep is crippling ( I haven't expanded far and need more armies!). So I need to use cheaper units, or reduce upkeep ... just curious whether the latter is possible ...
TIA,
CC

Re: Upkeep costs
A spell that reduces upkeep sounds pretty neat.... but no, I cant think of a way. Maybe someone cleverer than I has an answer.
Avoiding upkeep: Rely on summons which dont require upkeep (some summons do).

Re: Upkeep costs
magnate: if you're playing pythium w/ hydras, hopefully you're using Serpent Cult, as Hydras are holy and half upkeep in that theme

Ah! Thank you. I hadn't realised that (doh!). Any other differences I should watch out for? (I know the starting spells are different.)

Re: Upkeep costs
Ooh yuck. I don't like the serpent priests - not nearly as good as the Theurgs. Any the hydrae are more expensive (300 vs 250).
Nope. Back to vanilla Pythium for me ... nothing to do with the fact that Arco pummelled me in about 10 turns with Normal AI ....
