2.06 and 2.08 on Linux ...

I was trying to run both 2,06 and 2.08 on Linux ... but seems that my dom2 executable alwyas go to look for games and gods in the same ~/dominions2 direcroty ... I have also tried to change the BASEDIR variables in teh unix_install file but it seems not to change the behaviour of teh executable ...

I need also to do taht for windows, but I have found some thread explaining how to do, but not on linux

Seems that could be done with a script that redos a symlink.
e.g. have ~/dominions2-2.08, ~/dominions2-2.06, and then have a script delete and create a symbolic link before invoking the desired Version.

Even better set the DOM2_SAVE environment variable to something appropriate before starting the old Dominions II.

You should be able to set a script to run the game, that sets your HOME variable (in csh) to be the parent directory of wherever you installed Dom2.

Script or alias, something along the lines of:

setenv HOME /usr/wherever
cd $HOME/dominions
dom2

The above is predicated on use of csh, and you'd replace /usr/wherever with the parent directory of the install, as noted above.
