Default Multi-Player Game / Iraq

I've been messing around with DOM II for a bit now and have just dusted off the disk to load it up for a few SP games.

I have few little experience but I want to know who to get in a MP game. I cannot afford to play all of the time but would like to get Online play for awhile with someone. Call it a day then schedule it again.

How exactly do I go about doing this? I'm not a computer savy guru so some help would be nice.

Also I'm sitting in the desert in the middle of Baghdad so I need a game where I can play and then say...got to go now Then pick it up again later.

There seems to be some kind of war or what not going on around me so it keeps me occupied. Damn inconsiderate if you ask me, you'd think they would schedule this thing better.

Christopher

Well, the best way to get flash games going is to hang out on the #dominions channel on irc.gamesurge.net. Alternatively, you can join slow games where turns run on a semidaily basis, and you only have to do one turn, then come back later.

In the meantime, try not to get gruesomely killed.

Also, avoid camel spiders.
I know it's a meme, but it's a GOOD meme.

You might also consider looking at www.mosehansen.dk - Ebsen runs a site that hosts ongoing games as a hobby, most of which run about a turn a day.

There's even a game that's open for players now, with totally standard rules and settings; a good way to get your feet wet in MP.

And, you might try getting some of the military to get a local LAN game going, or even hotseat - lots and lots of military gamers (not sure if you're military or civilian). If I was still at Centcom I'd try to round some up for you, but the gamers I personally knew all PCSed.

Good luck (with Dominions and with getting through the streets of Baghdad okay).

Guess not - seems someone just created a dummy game to grab the open slot, then stopped it and created an "official tournament" game not open to the public. Kind of tacky, but ....

You might want to get someone you know involved in a game, they will be more understanding of your hours and it is more satisfying to run your legions ragged over someone you know than an internet stranger!

I am just down the road from you, relatively, in Kenya and face bad internet connections, power cuts and other technical problems. Right now one of my computers has a bottle of beer as a heat sink, as I am having problems getting a new power supply with a working fan. I have played several multiplayer games with strangers and friends and have found the games with friends went better. They are more willing to put up with my technical problems or, in your case, sudden needs to dive into bunkers.

Finally, a two or three player game can still be a lot of fun, you can always set up AI races. I have found a lot of games want many players, but that creates a possibility of more human problems. If you can just get one buddy, you get the fun of multiplayer, but still run your turns on time. Sure, it is not quite the same, but it is better than nothing at all.
