Default Combat Questions

Hello All, I have just started to play this game recently. I must say that I really love it. My question about combat is that when I attack with some weapons (the Anti-Proton Beam to be exact)I notice that when the shields of the target drops, it gets a boost to its armor. Is this normal and what parameters does it use to determine how damage is applied? Thanks.

Hello,

Some armors, namely crystalline armor do do as you describe.

You could post your GameName.sav file if you want so that someone can check to see what is going on.

Hi

New player as well, is some of the Techs like Crystalline Armor race specific or can any race research and use it ?

I usually play as Terra and have researched almost everything and don`t see that or shard cannons ?

Thanks

Ragnarok-X is an unknown quantity at this point

You need to choose the "Crystalline" Trait when designing your race. So in fact all they are ALL race specific. There more traits which supply race tech, like "Organic"

It could be either the Organic Armour (it regenerates damage over time), or a simple typo in the combat display, as some of the values may be wrong at different stages of the battle.

That's almost certainly shield regenerators and partial damage at work...

When you hit the enemy's hull with your APB or shield-skipping PPB, it will kill some components, but there will usually be a little bit left over that can't kill the component it hit (usually a weapon or armor).
This leftover damage gets added to the next hit.

But, if the next hit is blocked by the shields, then that leftover "hull" damage got moved into the shields.

On an APB hit that should be doing 60 damage, you might see:
-15 / 75 .
Total = 60.

The Organic armor is a different effect...
As the armor regenerates, the component pictures will change from the bLast hole thing back to organic armor pics as they get repaired. The hitpoints count dosen't get updated until the next weapon hit, though.
Hence, if you bLast them down to 100 hitpoints, and then they regenerate 100 back in organic armor, and THEN you shoot them for 60 damage...
The game says: they now have 140, they had 100 after the Last hit, so that makes "-40" hull damage.
