Default Too GOOD!

Holy cow there are a lot of things in this game!

First off, I want to speak a bit about wind ride. At what point in the turn generation does it snatch? Say I want to attack a province with an army, will it snatch one of my commanders as they move in, or one of the enemy commanders?

Secondly, I had my biggest, baddest hero attacked by a screenful of ghouls while she was sitting in a castle far far away from the front. It didn't seem to be an assination attempt and there was no enemy commander. Anyone know what this spell was? She wiped out half of them before they got her, but I'm a bit confused what happened.

Thanks

Except holy cows, which are notably absent, much to the consternation of Hindu strategy gamers. (Guess they'll have to settle for Diablo 2.)

Wind Ride snatches during the magic phase, which precedes movement. So long as you don't already have a non-hiding commander in the province, you're safe to cast it on the same turn you'll be moving & attacking.

Sounds like "Arouse Hunger", which is a spell and therefore also occurs during the MagicCombat-Phase, i.e. before ordinary combats. One of the ghouls is indeed a leader, but has exactly the same picture and stats like any other ghoul, so it's easy to miss this ghoul leader unless clicking them all and/or spotting carfully for different behaviour (I think it might acts in a different time slot during the turn.)

If she was sitting in a castle, I'd wager for Vengeance of the Dead. Some mage letting all the poor souls your heroine had killed a chance to get even with her.

As to many things in this game, you couldn't have said it better. And the devil's in the details, for instance I hadn't noticed the spell description of Manifestation doesn't specify that Ashen Angel would attack _enemy_ commanders - until I just botched a castle storming by assasinating my own mages. Gotta love the game.

Don't think arouse hunger would get a commander inside a castle, though, right?

Might be Vengeance of the Dead?

It is. You and Atul are correct.

Gosh, I overlooked that castle! I really hate it that people only built those puny watchtowers nowadays! Cant see them anymore! Aint proper castles, those watchtowers; aint same good sturdy walls as castles once used to have...<goes away mumbling>

Sacred cows could certainly be modded in. I would suggest them also having trample, but questionable magic resistance and stats reflecting a relative lack of battle training.

They should also produce 1 nature gem per month (milk).

I tried to look it up in the book but it must have been vengance of the dead. Is the number of ghouls the number of people she killed or just a big number?
