Ramming ships can\'t ram planets
Well, I just discovered today in a PBW game that ramming ships can't ram planets... darn, and I had some level 6 warheads on those things too! (Junkyard game if you were wondering about the tech level)
The weird thing about it is the ships move into position to ram... and then they just sit there, like the planet is blocking them from reaching the one square of the planet they are trying to ram! Didn't we have a similar trouble with seekers a while back? Good thing the planet was unarmed though!
(It SAID all but seekers on the target list, and drone warheads work, so I'd ASSUME that ships could ram planets as well )

Re: Ramming ships can\'t ram planets
Maybe it has something to do with the hard code, not allowing the Ships to occupy the same space as a planet square....? Is ramming turned on or off on the settings?
Just a guess or two....

Re: Ramming ships can\'t ram planets
I believe ramming works fine in tactical combat, and will deal as much damage as possible to the planet in a single try (there isn't the ramming animation though if memory serves). It does not work with strategic battles to the best of my knowledge, even when tweaking strategies a lot of time; at least, I could not get it to work in my 2vs2 game with Parabolize.
It might be something about the angle of approach however, as the same happened (or happens? I have given up seekers since then) for seekers against planets. It would be odd for it to work in tactical and not in simultaneous though.
