OT: Anyone know of any other good TBS games??
Though I hate to say it, sometimes I can get a little burned out on SEIV, but I honestly dislike almost all games that aren't a turn-based strategy game. So, here's the question; does anyone know of any other good turn-based strategy games? Below are the ones I have (albeit there's only a couple)
-SEIV
-Galactic Civilizations
Suggestions are very welcome.
GalCiv Lasted me for a month or so when I took a break from SEIV (except for PBW). However, there are several things about GalCiv that....really annoy me. So it's done with for now, and I'm playing SEIV again. But in the future, I'm going to get burned out on it, and need something else to play.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions that are posted.

There are always the old classics, like Master of Orion 1/2 and Master of Magic. Very few worthwhile TBS games have come out in the past few years...

Dominions qualifies under TBS, though it is quite different from SEIV (Dominions emphasises the military, while SEIV is mainly focused on economics).
You might want to look among older games, including some that aren't widely known. Emperor of the Fading Suns for example, or one game whose name I have forgotten (Tales of Balor, or something along these lines; I will look up for the correct name). Then you have Civilization and its siblings, including Alpha Centauri, but I have never been fond of Civilization.

Not strategy, but it is turn-based, and it's probably the greatest game ever made:

I prefer Slash'Em
slashem.sourceforge.net
Though using ASCII, not with tiles

Well you could try Civization 3 Conquests. Its quite a mainstream game, but there are a lot of mods out there, which transfer the game into a science fiction world, or even in the warhammer universe. Other than Dom 2, MoO 2 its probably the best TBS game out there, excluding SE 4

I don't particularly like Civilization either, though it can be fun. Alpha Centauri + Alien Crossfire is great!
And I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Total War series yet. I should be getting Rome: Total War in a couple of months since by all accounts its a very good game.
I also wish that there were more squad-level turn-based games. I loved X-Com and Jagged Alliance. The new X-com game and Fallout: Tactics were just bad.
Edit: And how about the stuff from Paradox Game? Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron etc. I've never played those myself but they have plenty of dedicated fans.

Paradox games are not turn-based, though they almost play as TBS games. The only difference is for multiplayer, where pausing a lot is not an option, and you need to remain Online for at least a few hours. Very annoying if you cannot play this way, and Paradox has no intentions of switching back to TBS.
And since we are speaking of rogue-likes: my own favourite is Angband (a good site for Angband and its variants would be this one), but ADOM is worth a try as well.

I'm a ascii/slash guy myself, but nethack is probably a better point for initiating new players.
