Default Feature Request: Magic Site IDs (and questions)

Can you please make ID numbers for magic sites available the same way the unit IDs are? Right now, it's impossible to place certain sites on a map (okay, just one, the Academy of High Magics, which has four variants, one for each element, but it always places the fire Version).

Then there's all the national sites that have the same name but are different (Ravens Vale, 2 Versions; Vanhalla, 2 Versions, The Celestial City, 2 Versions just off the top of my head)

It'd also make it a lot easier to keep the Magic Site DB up to date and current.

If possible, I would very much like to add info on which sites are unique, which sites are terrain specific (e.g. Desert of Bones is waste only, Rockside Spring requires mountains etc) and how common different sites are (e.g. Earth Blood Seepage is common, Iron Cliff is common as dirt, The Sun Below is rare and possibly unique).

Kaljamaha and I have figured out some of the uniques, some are well known to be unique (the specially guarded sites), others I suspect but have no real idea.

Is the list below a step in the right direction, or am I talking out of my arse?

[i]Fairly well confirmed unique sites[/b]
The Wasted Sea
Dying Ground of the Whales
Isle of Ice
Isle of Death
Isle of the Sea Fathers
Academy Underneath
Amber Beach Island
The Crater
Inkpot End (certified)
Starke's Ice Cave (certified)
Mine of the Cyclops (certified)
Hoburg (certified)
The Primal Forest (certified)

Strongly suspected unique sites
Academy of High Magics (one each, four total)
Academy of the Crescent Moon
Bolivar's Tower of Reflections
Forest of Avendron
Oleg's Alchemical Device
Surakid's Tower
The City of a Thousand Wonders
The Desert of Ptah
The Factory
The Great Mirror of Maaki
The Grey Tower of Nexus
The Hidden Kingdom of Elludia
The Holy Crypt of Anre (Solaris?)
The Jervellan Wall
The Mausoleum of the Great Sarlah
The Mountain of Power
The Mountain of the Past
The Sea of the Tears of Men
The Sea Underneath
The Shaded Lands (special site with guardian, Shade Lord?)
The Sun Below
The Ultimate Gateway

The sites on this list are there mainly on the basis of the following reasons:
  • having a name that references something unique (such as character names like Maaki, Anre, Bolivar, or place names like Avendron etc)
  • having a name that sounds like they are one of a kind that appear only in legends (e.g. The Sea of the Tears of Men, The Hidden Kingdom of Elludia, The Sun Below, The Sea Underneath, The Grey Tower of Nexus)
  • have made the list because other similar sites are on the almost certainly confirmed list (e.g. the Academies, on the basis of the Academy Underneath)
  • Have more or less unique sounding names and are just too bloody powerful to be anything but unique legends. The Mountain of Power, anyone? Evocation and Enchantment bonus of 30, +3 blood slaves, enter to summon critters; Or how about The Ultimate Gateway, Conjuration bonus 50? Summoning Circle doesn't make it because any competent blood mage with the resources could conceivably create one and blood slaves can be found anywhere.

Moderately or slightly suspected unique sites
Azure Academy
Library of Time
Lost Vale of the Elders
Mount Frost
Prison of the Desert Sun
Tower of the Golden Order
Tower of the Iron Order
Tower of the Silver Order
The Cornerstone
The Crystal Citadel
The Land of Pleasures Unattained
The Queen's Galley
The Statues of the Overlords
The Temple of the Raging God
The Vale of Infinite Horror
The Valley of Shame
The World Pillar

The sites on this secondary list are there for much the same reasons as numbers 2 and 3 on the list above, but there is more or less doubt (depending on the site, e.g. the Metal Orders could have several towers scattered about, while the Vale of Infinite Horror sounds a lot more like it could be one of a kind).

So, any thoughts, or input? Especially IW, but anyone with something to add is welcome to. I'd have special interest to learn which sites are guarded by the unique critters like Solaris, Satina etc (and what unique guardians there are, such as Tiamat the Wyrm, Solaris the Paladin, Starke the Ice Druid etc etc).

The sooner I have as much of this info, the sooner we can release an intermediate revision of Sunray's old site list, with new and improved display format, completely rechecked levels and gem income info, added info on specialties like magic bonuses, buildings and summonable/recruitable monsters etc.

Get cracking, people!

Edi
