Forum Performance
Guys,
I finally convinced the powers that be to switch to a unix host for most of our hosting services. Mysql and php ran like a dog under windows, and I am seeing pretty good performance myself personally compared to the old forum.
I would like to take a quick poll of everyone else's experience.
Also please note that I have some other plans now that we are on the unix host to further speed things up.
Thanks.

Re: Forum Performance
Unix rocks richard. If it is good enough for me to use in GM to run quality systems then it has to be good for a forum...

Re: Forum Performance
Well since my professional background is as a Unix Systems Admin I would have to agree .
But I'm biased....

Re: Forum Performance
Much better than before - it's taking considerably less time for My Daily View of the Forums to load; about 1/3 the previous time.

Re: Forum Performance
Im pretty biased myself. Ive always felt that a server is best run when stripped down of pretty administration menus. There are times I do recommend Windows servers but only in office environments where many people might need to walk up and make changes. Then its a fair trade

Re: Forum Performance
I guess being on dialup limits the benefits I can see from the change.
