Default Soulstone = continuous wolves?

I was pretty sure that the Soulstone gave you a free Howl x1 at the start of battle. I had this on an assassin a few times and I thought it went like that.
Currently, my Soulstone is giving me continuous wolves, 1 howl per combat round, which is a heck of a lot of wolves.
Is that right?

There is another artifact, Fenris Coat IIRC, that has similar theme. I don't know if that only works once or not, but I confused them the first time I saw that new item.

Wolves are not very powerful in non-assasinations, so I don't think its too powerful with wolves every round.

It might also be because you are now in a forest/mountain province. Wolves might be ready to asnwer to the call of their Soulstone, but that does not mean a lot in a swamp with maybe 5 wolves around...

Yep, the Soulstone casts Howl every single turn. It's quite amusing during storming battles when they appear inside the castle walls... and they can distract enemy units, which is handy. There's a slight downside that your own casters might spend a lot of time casting buffing spells on wolves.

One could do some strange things based on this, such as casting large-scale boosters such as Marble Warriors or Battle Fortune to help 'em out, and letting them turn into Mandragoras via Haunted Forest.
