Default Broken links to old forum

I am currently in the final push to issue the *probably* final revision to the Newbie FAQ. I have done a lot of work already. In my research here, especially in the Updated the FAQ Thread there are links to important threads containing good information. Most of them point to the thread under the old forum and these are broken. So I can't find out what the old discussion was about.

Is there a way to find the thread again if there is only a link and no title or subject matter?

Most likely Richard or Mindi will be checking in here, but if they don't reply here, feel free to send either one a PM. They'll be happy to look into it.

I don't think it can be fixed. We determined that when the forum changed it used a different system of links and unfortunately there was no way to convert them. I actually went through and did a few by hand by doing searches and finding the link the poster was linking to, but that only works if you have some sort of text about the title or subject matter.

Likewise, when I updated the links in the Encyclopedia Malfadorica, I had to search the new forum. Slick, if you browse the EM, you may find a hint as to who made an important forum posting.

If anyone ever finds a way to connect the old and new forums, I'd like to hear about it. There was one posting I left me just no clue as to who wrote it.

Arkcon, I do occasionally browse EM, and its really good.

However, I'm talking about posts I made like this:

for next update.

I was using that thread as a central location to keep track of other good threads to be included in the FAQ. I really have no idea what that link refers to. I didn't think I needed to put any more tracking information since I was linking within this forum. I'm sure that the posts I made like this, in the thread mentioned above, were really good for incorporation into the FAQ.

There are broken links in a few other threads that I was keeping track of too. In some of the cases, yeah, I can get the context and do a search.

I guess I was hoping that there was some cross reference capability or a method to use the old topic number such as t=011092 above to at least get the message subject/title. That's all I would really need. I could then use the forum search function to go from there.

edit: Thanks, Annette & Mindi... forgot my manners. I PM'd Richard.
