Lan game
Hello,
I know that before i could play this game multiplayer without sending game file every turn on separate computer on turn based. I had just to click end of turn and it was acting as a hotseat two player game but the players were on two different computers. Now i just can't remember how i was doing this. Anyone can help me? Thx.
Also.. i think i had more option like play by email and stuff like that that I don't seem to have anymore :S

Re: Lan game
when you create a new game go to mechanic select Different Machines under Play Style, then, Simultaneous Movement under Turn Style and then select one of the option on connection type and don't forget to fill the multiplayer game filename, i think this is what you're asking, and welcome to the forums!

Re: Lan game
no..not exactly. it was turn based but wasn't asking me to close the game and send the save file to the other computer. I was not using those tcp/ip host and player setting. I am sure of that.

Re: Lan game
Sequential movement mode (aka "turn based") is only available for hotseat games on the same computer. It is not available for normal use on multiple computers. All other methods of play use simultaneous movement (which is far more balanced, hence better overall).
This thread has information on how to set up TCP/IP games, which are possibly what you were thinking of.

Re: Lan game
you could try to specify the "Save Game Directory Path" so all players use the savegame file, but i don't know if that will work since i don't have access to a LAN.

No. Tactical combat is only allowed in sequential movement mode.

Re: Lan game
This is strange... i am sure i could play hotseat like games on different computers :s And i had tactical combats vs my brother and we were not on the same computer. We just had to click end of turn then it was immediately the other player turn.
Was this possible in SE III?? after all it is just an automated file transfer that take 10 secs to code :s

Re: Lan game
Sequential movement mode was the only option in SE3.
There has never been the capability to play tactical combat versus humans on different computers in SE4.
