Quick question
Hi all,
I've just searched for "magic being"+life+drain and got no results, so I don't think this has come up before:
Can magic beings benefit from life draining weapons? (Hell Sword, Wraith Sword, Blood Thorn)
It doesn't say they can't, but my air queens are wielding such weapons and don't seem to be gaining any hp. Just a thought.
I would assume that such weapons wouldn't benefit lifeless creatures, obviously, though I haven't tried it.

Re: Quick question
I believe lifedrain works for any creature. The only caveat is that lifeless targets cant be drained of hp/fatigue (tho they will still be damaged).
On a related note, while lifedrain will function for a lifeless attacker, regeneration will not.

Re: Quick question
Then there's something I don't understand. I have an air queen and an ice devil, both armed with a sword of swiftness and a blood thorn. I send them into combat together, they buff up and start laying into the enemy. After a few rounds of combat, the ice devil has gained 20-30 hps, but the air queen has gained none, despite killing roughly the same number of bad guys. Now either she keeps missing with the athame, or something weird is going on.

Re: Quick question
If you fight lifeless creatures you get no HP drained.
Possibility 2 is that your AQ fights tough targets with good protection like black knights. AQs have lower strength than the ID so your AQ probably damages the knights with their built in lightning weapons but can't overcome the protection with the blood thorn.

Re: Quick question
Thanks Boron, that's probably it. My 2nd AQ suddenly has 67hp (in hostile dominion) so the life draining is definitely working. The first AQ must be failing to do damage with the athame.

Re: Quick question
Possibility three is that the Air Queen is such a hardcore lady that she kills all comers with her lightning swarms.
Possibility four is that she hasn't been scripted to attack and is fighting at short range with powerful spells like shockwave.

I've watched the battles so I know it's not #4 - she's definitely meleeing.
#3 is interesting - do the attacks happen in the order printed in her description? When I right-click on her it says "Sword of Swiftness, Athame, Lightning Swarm, Lightning Swarm, Lightning Swarm, Dancing Trident, Gore". If that is indeed the order of her attacks then to kill all comers with the lightning and gain no hp she would have to be missing with the Athame every time, so #3 then becomes #2 above.
Ho hum.
