APFSDS Range
I have one question. In game all 125mm guns have same Sabot range as 120mm guns. Why? As far as i know early soviet apfsds had problems at longer distances, velocity drop was quite big, so their rounds had biger penetration drop than western ammo. In game this is not modelled. There are some guns with similar values for example West German 120mm L44 WG79 gun has sabot pen 50 and range 120, soviet gun 125mm gun 76 51 and 120 range. With this value will be soviet gun more deadly than more modern WG Apfsds round. All early soviet rounds had 40-35mm diameter with L/D 10:1 - 13:1. their velocity loss was around 150-120m/s/km. Western APFSDS rounds had L/D 10:1 to 30:1 (most modern projectiles has L/D 37:1, modern russian projectiles had 20:1)and speed loss around 75-50m/s/km.Even western 105mm APFSDS had better performace than russian 125mm.Becouse sabot range limits only Sabot penetration it should be nice have those technology diferences implemented.Russian tanks T-64/72/80/90 all have autoloader with limits lenght of projectile, thats mayor cause why they dont have better L/D.Due to this problem Soviet started fielding ATGM fired through main gun, to overcome limited effectivity of their guns at greater ranges.
I reworked in my custom OOB all tank guns, all rounds with L/D 10:1-15:1 had max range 100, L/D 16:1-25:1 range 120, 26:1-35:1 range 130, over 35:1 range 140.
same for all 105,115,120,125 guns.
