Modders or Aaron Please read.
I do not know if this component already exsisits or not, but if it does not, can it be added to an up coming patch.
Simply put, a component that can be built on a planet that prevents warp points from opening within that planets system. Much like the components that prevent the destruction of stars and planets. Thanks.

Re: Modders or Aaron Please read.
I don't think so. Anyone with this facility (components don't go on planets will practically be invincible. Put one in every system they own, then be sure to let out a nice big fleet before closing all warp points to the outside.
It would be hard enough for a human to try to beat that, but the AI will have even less of a chance.

Re: Modders or Aaron Please read.
Thanks Will, yes in deed I screwed up, I mean Facilities. Ooops, its a late day, and I just got done teaching an SPC class.
Anywhoo, the cost of the facility could be enourmous thus limiting its use. Other concepts could be incorperated into it as well, make it a research costly, high maintenance, and require say 3 per system to get the full protection aspect of the facilities. (Each produces a percentage of protection points, and when that percentage reaches 100%, it protects the system 100%.)
I think this facility idea is a great one, and I would appreciate more input on it. Pro's and Con's. Thanks.

Atrocities,
Somebody else posted this a while back, but I think it should still work. You can isolate your system by opening ten warp points between it and a nearby system. Apparently there is a hard coded limit of 10 warp pointas per system. This would prevent any points being opened into either system.

This is a great idea.
Maybe make the facility a unique one only found in ruins and really expensive to build (like the planetary shield generator)

Re: Modders or Aaron Please read.
I like the idea very much ! Do you remember the facility in MOO2 which slows down the attacking ships which want to enter the system, so you can prepare your defense forces ? Maybe it would be possible to make a Wormhole instable for a few turns, so you can see the Wormhole opening, but you have time enough to gather your defense ships.
Instable WP: I don't mean a damaging WP with this, I think of a Wormhole which can't be entered or which has random effects for a few turns !

A very expensive COMPONENT might be cool, but I think MM should also limit the number of Warp-points from any one system to any other specific system to no more than one also.

Just remember not to close warp points between your own systems, otherwise resource production gets screwed up...
This could also wreak havoc with expanding your empire...

Re: Modders or Aaron Please read.
I would propose a different type of fix. Instead of preventing the opening of a worm hole why not remove the ability to close worm holes, once they are built the stay. This way you could use worm hole offensivly but not defensively. You could secure your system if you wanted but couldn't change your mind later.
It is usually easier to get the AI to act offensively than defensively.
Another alternative would be to make opened worm hole temporary, the close a turn or two after opening.
The whole idea of securing a system by opening a hardcoded limit of worm holes seems very gamey and should be avoided IMO. Just my 2 cents.
