Canadian Small Arms
I'm sorry if this has already come up. I have noticed that the time frame for the use of the C-7 small arms package in the Canadian OOB is quite a lot sooner than in historical reality. The forces wide switch from FN C-1,C-2,and stering SMG to C-7, C-8, and C-9 LMG took place in 1989-1990. The OOB has them available in 1971. The M-16 and colt commando may have been used by special forces and RCMP units before 89 but not the regular army, navy or air force, not even the airbourne had them any sooner. The use of the C-6 MMG is also much too early, it did not enter service until around 1987 replacing the C-5 MMG(a Browning .30 cal MMG rebored to NATO 7.62mm)which is not even mentioned. I remember this timing well because I took my basic training in 1989 as the first recruit course to learn the new C-7 rifle and then mustered into my infantry unit and had to learn to use the FN C-1 because they had not switched yet. The game OOB has the switch from Lee Enfield to FN C-1 occuring in 1955 which may also be a little early. I have an Uncle who was in the Army at the time so I will confirm with him and let everyone know. I realize that this is not a high priority for Doug and Andy to change. I have changed my own OOB to reflect reality and I thought I would share this info in case anyone else is interested in doing so.
