AI Computer Player Mod Issue
Hi,
I have a friend who has done an extensive mod to the game but has one issue he cannot resolve. He changed ship engines so they do not have supplies so ships must have supply bays in order to move. The problem is that he does not know how to change the AI computer player ship building routines so they build ships with supply bays. Without changing that routine computer AI players never leave their home systems since the ships they build cannot move.
Does anyone know how to modify the AI computer player ship building routines?
Thanks,

Re: AI Computer Player Mod Issue
The easiest way would be to add a call for supply storage in the miscellaneous abilities section of the AI_designcreation.txt files.
The tonnage per one value is "you want one component with this ability for every X kt of ship size"

They may be able to still move at spped "1". Not that that is a good thing. Of course, they will use that to go back and refuel and so not move anywhere because they can not refuel.

This is how I did it for the STM and AST mods.

Re: AI Computer Player Mod Issue
You could also add a second required Supply Storage ability at the top. That way the AI will add the reactor first. That's something I was using on the rudamentary AI for the Pointer Mod a while back.
I'm not sure if the release version has AI included or not.

Re: AI Computer Player Mod Issue
I would recommend:
Must Have Ability 1 := Supply Storage
That way you 100% sure that at least one supply storage component is added no matter what you have in the rest of your design list.

Yep. That's the one. Except you'd add
"Must Have Ability 2 := Supply Storage"
just below the first Must Have Ability. That way the AI designs ships as normal.
