Full Version Of SE4
Can someone please tell me what the full Version of SE4 comes with? Does it have a printed manual or just files on a CD?

CD plus extraordinary thin "manual", don't expect too much from it. But you will find the most valuable info in this forum, and an Online manual on the CD

Re: Full Version Of SE4
Okay, I'll take you up on your offer for help. I've only played the demo, but I plan to buy the game eventually (though, I must admit I worry about finding pbem opponents). Anyway, here's my question. Sometimes in the demo, I lose control of my ships and they state I have no supply for them. Furthermore, there's a red leaky barrel next to my ship. I have no idea what's going on, and I would love any explanation that would solve this riddle; providing it's true, of course.

Re: Full Version Of SE4
Your ships require supplies to move and to fire their weapons. Each time you move your ship, the game subtracts 10 points per engine per move. When you run out of supplies, your ships can only move one sector per turn--very frustrating!
You can resupply your ships by passing through a sector with a planet that has a resupply depot or you can stop your ship in a sector with a base, form a fleet that contains both the ship and the base and wait until next turn. Later in the game, you can research Astrophysics->Steller Harnessing to get a component that adds supplies to your ship based on the number of suns. A bit further down the tech tree for Resupply, you get a Quantum Reactor that gives you ship infinite supplies.
There is also a component called Supply Storage that increases the supplies for each ship. Since fleets share supplies, a good idea is to put all your ships in a fleet with a ship that has either Supply Storage or a Quantum Reactor. Or... you can just send your ships out until half their supplies are depleted and then press the little lightning icon that tells them to head for the closest resupply base.
Hope that helps.

Thanks. I'll look into it, though, I'm not sure that's it. I believe I was orbitting my home planet which I'm sure had the necessary resupply facilities. Still, being a neophyte I'll need to look into it before saying anything more. So if it is what you say, you'll have the red barrel next to your ship?

Re: Full Version Of SE4
Yes, the red barrel means you're out of supplies; there's also a yellow barrel when you're low on supplies, but I forget offhand how much "low" is. There are settings in one of the data files where you can change the trigger points for these icons.
You also mentioned "losing control" of the ship. Do you mean it starts moving by itself? If that's happening, it sounds like you have the Supply Minister turned on. The SM will automatically send a ship to the nearest resupply point.

Re: Full Version Of SE4
"Low", by default, is at 1000 units of supply remaining, regardless of how many you started with.
