Default Lobby chat not working properly


EDIT: Actually, server is just not working well in general.

I was just going to post about the same thing...

I hope it's not just the abnormally high number of people in the lobby - at some point, there were 3 of us simultaneously, and a few minutes later I saw two others. I just hope the server is able to withstand the load of 5 connections...

It does appear we've had a few lobby crashes today. The good news it that these crashes are shown in our error log, complete with where in the code the problems happened.

I will spend some time today going through the log and tightening up every place an error was reported, as well as doing more testing on my side.

However, for a few complicated reasons, these fixes probably won't go live until the v1.20 patch is released. This patch is almost done now, but there's a little work waiting on Andre, who was pulled out of town on business for quite a while.

But I consider this instability a major issue, and I will work with Andre to bring these changes live, and get the v1.20 client patch out (with all its bugfixes, new maps, etc.) as soon as possible.

Thanks for your patience, and thanks for bringing these server issues to my attention.

I have looked at the error logs and found that there appears to be 3 specific places in the code that are causing problems, but 2 of them have caused the vast majority of the crashes. I believe I have isolated and fixed the two worst problems, and these fixes will be available when we update the servers for v1.20.

The third error is much rarer, but I haven't been able to pin down exactly where or why it's happening. I'll add some code that will hopefully fix it, and also add code to give me more information if it crashes in that function in the future.
