Nostalgia
With Dominions III just around the corner and Dominions II around for like what, two or three years, I had this crazy thought - would people be interested in playing a DOM-I pbem.
If we have such a nostalgic game, I think that besides the fun of it (recall your fav dom-I tactics), it is also a homage to Illwinter for giving us dominions.
What say you ppl?

Re: Nostalgia
I really like this map. Now all that's missing is eight-ten more players

Would you have liked to play had you had it?

Re: Nostalgia
Maybe. I have never played it, and therefore, I don't know what it is like.

Re: Nostalgia
PM Varjostin. He's new, he has Dom:PPP, and he doesn't have DomII so he probably has time to play play.

A coincidence
I explored the other parts of this forum and accidentally found this. Yes, I have Dom I and I'm not a total newbie with it so I can take part, if you want me to, in the match on one condition: You explain how PBEM exactly works and what it needs. I know it involves email. But how and is external email enough or do I need an internal email like Outlook Express? Or just pass me an url to a guide. Thank you.
P.S. Played it a couple of years but it doesn't mean I would be a master, but I think it wasn't the point anyway.

Re: A coincidence
Varjostin, There are two types of turn files, one contains the players directives to the host and the other update the player with the new turn from the host. Those files are form the hosting mechanism for dom (single player works the same). The first type of files (.2h) need to be sent to the host and the second type (.trn) need to be distributed to the players. The "carrying" layer is not really important, email is convenient but it could have been done using ftp, http or a costumized client (an example of a very customized client over TCP/IP is dominions ).
So it doesn't matter what email program you use as long as you are able to send and receive files.
It is possible that I've miss understood you question and that you actually asking for a PBEM how-to guide. In that case PashaDawg has once give me a thorough explanation of how to guide a PBEM game. I'll see if I can find it when I'm back home...
Currently we have possible three players, doesn't seem to promising for starting a game

Re: A coincidence
Thank you. A how-to guide would be very nice since I understand only the basic idea. It would be nice if you put it as an attachment to your next post. It's sad that the idea for the match doesn't inspire people. I think that 5-6 players should be enough for eg. Urgaia, which is by the way a very good map, but it's up to the host.
