Re: A bit of art.....
Cool... Plan on making event pics out of those? They would work well for "ruins discovered" or "planet conditions improve" Though is it just me or when I view the full pics does the background look pixellated?

Re: A bit of art.....
The backgrounds do indeed look pixellated, as they were rendered in 640x480 and then stretched to 1600x1200, but from now on the backgrounds will be rendered in 1280x960, which looks a helluva lot better.
I hadn't thought of using these as ingame SEIV pics yet, but I think I'll whip up a few. Thanks for the idea!

Re: A bit of art.....
If the backgrounds are renders too, not stock pics, wouldn't it be better to wait the few extra minutes to render the backgrounds at 1600x1200 or whatever the size is you're using for that particular picture? Or is the rendering THAT slow?

Re: A bit of art.....
Which software are you using for the background ? Terragen ? If so, how did you get the lensflare into the "back" ?

Re: A bit of art.....
Fantastic pictures, especially the first one.
The image hosting site sucks though - hit me with all kinds of PITA popups. Why not use se.net's gallery instead?

Re: A bit of art.....
Its not so bad if you provide direct links to the images, rather than to the php scripts that generate the popups. At least, I get none if I go to the direct link in IE. The url to the image can easily be changed with the "clickable thumbnails" text.

Re: A bit of art.....
@Ragnarok: Yes, Terragen I got the "lens flare" by tinkering around with the atmosphere settings and increading the corona to 25 I believe.
@Ed: Unfortunately, Terragen has a maximum rendering resolution of 1280x960 unless you register But stretching 1280x960 pics to 1600x1200 is a lot less visible as stretching 640x480 pics to 1600x1200, which is 6.25 times as large, compared to just over 1.5 times for the 1280x960.
@Dogscoff: I guess I simply didn't think about it. I always use imageshack on another forum I frequent, so it felt kinda normal to use it now. I have to admit I haven't been to SE.net in quite some time, I'll check it out. And yes, imageshack is indeed apparently funded solely by the omnipresent advertising. There's two large ads on the main upload screen , and three on the screen you get after uploading. not to mention (since you already did ) the popups when you go to a hosted pic.

Re: A bit of art.....
Ahh, to fly around in that ship, on an alien world, across mountains and oceans and different terrain... to experience something like that is a dream. Beautiful images. Very nice work.
