Dom3 DB: Magic Sites, Forts and Poptypes
Second actual installment of Dom3 DB features the complete list of magic sites, the list of forts (again) and an improved list of poptypes.
Also included is a list of precalculated terrain masks for sites, but because the modding manual has outright errors and significant ambiguities in the sitemask section, ALL site mask info regarding combination terrains that include coastal and sea provinces is automatically unreliable. The modding manual sitemask section seems to have been written based on Dom2 terrain types and ignore the addition of Deep Sea and the second Coast terrain, which means the numbers precalculated by IW are WRONG.
Those who wish to explore that subject further are advised to do their own testing.
Enjoy.

Re: Dom3 DB: Magic Sites, Forts and Poptypes
Great work Edi!
Is there any trick in OpenOffice to sort a column AND have all the other columns adjust correct?
If i sort a specific column only this column was sorted but the other values are still the former one.
EDIT: solved, found the advanced sort function

Re: Dom3 DB: Magic Sites, Forts and Poptypes
Yes. You need to select all of the data area (meaning go to cell B1 and press ctrl+shift+end) and then sort, that will sort all of the data area.
You can also add autofiltering by selecting the data area as per above (except you start from cell A1) and go to Data >> Filter >> Autofilter, which will allow you to have the list show e.g. all death sites of lv 1 or all sites that produce 3 fire gems or similar.
I was in a real rush this morning when I finished that because I had to go to work, so I forgot to add the autofilter.
I'll update the attachment in the evening by adding autofilters to the sheets.

Re: Dom3 DB: Magic Sites, Forts and Poptypes
Couple of weeks. Next entry to be added is #1476 or something like that. After I've got all the elemental data on the units, I'm going to have to craft the display page which will show everything as it appears in the game, and getting all of those formulas right will take another few days. I'll also need to craft categorized display pages to show pretenders, national units, indies, site recruitables and summons.
It's more work in the short term, but the long term results are that anyone who wants to make a mod can simply alter a single number in the elemental unit, weapons and armor tables and see the final results immediately in the unit display page. So taking a look at the effects of the new mod will just need saving the DB as a different file and then comparison will be easy.

Thanks for than answer Edi.
By the way you're describing the display page, did you get as far as having the units images ?

Re: Dom3 DB: Magic Sites, Forts and Poptypes
No. The image files will have to be somebody else's project.
The display page means showing the stats as they appear. As we all know, stats are affected by armor, weapons and other such. So the elemental stats page has the base stats of a unit unaffected by anything. The display page will use formulas to retrieve the data from the base stats page and modify them with weapons and armor modifiers retrieved from weapons and armor pages.
E.g. most human infantry looks like
10, 0, 10, 10, 3, 10, 10, 10, 10, 2/12,
but when you add in armor and weapons (e.g. plate hauberk, halfhelmet, short sword and shield), it will become something like
10, 15, 10, 10, 6, 10, 10, 11, 10, 2/8
where those stats are hp, prot, morale, magic resistance, encumbrance, str, att, def, prec, mapmove and AP.
I'd still need the actual formula for calculating overall protection for that reason or the creatures with base prot greater than 0 will show up wrong, and resource values are likely to be unmodified, without base resource cost showing. I haven't worked out the ressize modifiers to resource costs, so the Weapons and armor rescosts in the already released document are those for size 2 units. Most units have a base rescost of 1 anyway, regardless of size.

Re: Dom3 DB: Magic Sites, Forts and Poptypes
Open Office is your friend, Ragnarok-X. I've gone to detail in my previous Dom3 DB thread (the weapons and armor one) as to why the DB is being provided in Open Office file format. If somebody wants to use it in Excel, they will just have to ask somebody to do the conversion for them or do it themselves after installing Open Office first.
The attachment in the first post has been updated. The poptypes page has the scouts moved from their own column to the 3rd commander column because the 6 poptypes having scouts can't justify two extra columns. The magic site page also has autofilter and there is also a glossary page explaining the terminology in column headers in case it wasn't clear already.
