linux install library libraries libGL.so.1 libSDL
You can ignore this message. Its been posted to the beta-test forum also but I mostly want to archive the info for search purposes when its (rarely) needed.
Im trying to pin down the errors Im getting in Dom3 on my Debian servers. (thats not what this is about).
I loaded a VMware version of Ubuntu (the developers version of linux). Its been years since Ihad this problem with Dom2 so this time I thought Id record the effort.
Running dom3 -Tv the first time gave an error looking for libGl and when I fixed that error it gave one looking for libSDL.
searched for libGL.so.1 (no match)
searched for libgl (many, google said use the mesa pkg)
loaded the mesa package which loaded many dependencies
libSDL-1.2.so.0 (no match)
searched for libsdl (many, picked the first that looked good)
loaded libsdl-image1.2 which loaded many dependencies
Most of the libraries loaded are for Xwindows (running Dom3 in Gnome or KDE desktops) but even if you only run it as a text host it still needs all of those libraries loaded before it will proceed.
You many now return to your usual gaming conversations
