Default Undead without lifeless ability + regeneration

i tried PoD with personal regeneration some times and never saw him actually regernationg hp...he is not lifeless. i thought only lifeless undead cannot regernate and lifeless beeings like statues? furthermore i did not see regernation restoring hp for lictors when imassed them with high regen bless9/10. just was for testing and it seem not to work. i am not sure it is intended in that way cause VQ has regen too and it works....(i think) and it would also just mean to convert all nature gems to astral if you play with heavy undead based nation, if we do not count the vine men, ogre and manikin stuff. say playing with la ermor, or la c'tis

Some undead are intended to regenerate. Ghost King, Vampire Queen, Bane Lords to name just a few. One of the tool tips says even says that not all undead are lifeless.

Even with lifeless undead, you can get still replenish their hps with drain life spell or items.

yeah, i know all that. however, i do not understand why PoD wh o is not lifeless(!) cannot restore his hp with personal regneration cast. there is life drain and soul vortex, problem with these spells is, they come too late for the time i need it. i would rather see PoD more expansive and more things work on him. like having early life drain or personal regeneration working on him, after all he is not lifeless. on lifeless creatures/mages/gods no matter if undead or not they seem not even be able to cast personal regeneration on themselves. if you script the spell they will cast something different. but PoD still casts it but it won't restore a single hp point. maybe all it does is protect against affliction better. also saw similar things with blessed lictors, who are not lifeless too.

i will do some more tests, though. the whole point of this is, if nature path is any good for a pure undead strat or not---> no use of regeneration, supplies. But it can help to forge the chalice, undead without recuperation(carrion dragon has it) or immortality will have serious problems to heal affliaction, like PoD, so i start to wonder if this unit needs compensation and perhaps increased cost too then. as PoD is also a good fighter with his aura of fear when it comes to morale weak troops, mainly most indies. but getting inflictions over and over again and no way to heal or even at leat have regeneration is not good. i'd expect a better balance here, cause i kinda think PoD is a cool pretender to have if some things here are tweaked, like regen should work on him at least, not that his hp are that great either. but i find myself always taking master lich cause of the many shortcomings of the PoD. why can't he go into water provinces? thats another disturbing factor here. and his rod of death is not useful, he should have life drain, really. else he is just good to scare off some weak indies.

How low did his hp go?

If he sits in +3 dominion, and has a battle in neutral dominion, he'll start with 70 or so hp but wont regenerate untill he gets below his normal 45.

I just tried and it worked. Are you sure they were blessed? MA ermor has some annoyances/bugs with blessing... you need to cast unholy blessing to bless undead's and if you cast divine blessing first you cant cast unholy blessing after.

Regeneration does work on undead without lifeless, it just does not work if the opponent's army is routing, suddenly regeneration stops to restore hp's, even if they chase down the fleeing units for quite a while.
